The Esperance business and community network came together at the Esperance Bay Yacht Club on Monday to celebrate International Women’s Day, recognising the achievements of women and the impact they continue to make across our region.
The event brought together local business leaders, professionals, community members and students for a morning focused on connection, inspiration and recognition. Guests enjoyed drinks and nibbles while networking and reflecting on the importance of celebrating women who break barriers, champion meaningful change and help shape a more inclusive future.
Attendees heard from two inspiring guest speakers who shared their personal and professional journeys. Sam Starcevich from Brimlo Farms spoke about her experiences in agriculture, highlighting the importance of resilience, adaptability and the growing role women continue to play in shaping the future of regional industries.
Monica Birkner, Chief People and Sustainability Officer at Southern Ports, shared insights into leadership, workplace culture and the importance of creating inclusive environments where people can thrive and contribute meaningfully.
A special element of the event was the presence of students from Esperance Senior High School and Esperance Anglican Community School, who were invited to attend and experience what professional community and business events look like beyond school.
Their participation provided an opportunity for young women to see local role models in action and gain a glimpse into the conversations, leadership and connections that shape the future of our region.
The morning created space for meaningful conversations, new connections and a shared celebration of the strength, leadership and contributions of women in Esperance.
The Esperance Chamber of Commerce and Industry extends its sincere thanks to the event sponsors: Azure, the Shire of Esperance, Regional Development Australia Goldfields Esperance and Workforce Australia, whose support helped make the celebration possible.
International Women’s Day continues to be an important moment to reflect on progress, acknowledge achievements and inspire the next generation of women leaders across our region.
