Key findings from the Fuel Security Survey and how ECCI is responding to support Esperance businesses

As we continue through 2026, our vision to be the Voice for Business remains central to everything we do. We are focused on ensuring local business voices are heard, advocating on the issues that matter most, and responding quickly to the challenges facing businesses across our region.
This month, we are sharing the results of the RCCIWA Fuel Security Survey, which captured feedback from more than 400 regional WA businesses in just seven days. The results highlight the significant and disproportionate impact fuel pricing and supply uncertainty is having on regional businesses with 78% already negatively affected, and many reporting sharp increases in input costs, reduced demand, and concerns about business viability.
Most importantly, this survey demonstrates the power of our members’ collective voice. Through our statewide Chamber network, local business experiences were rapidly elevated to decision‑makers, giving us a direct line into senior government, including the Premier. The speed of engagement and response reinforced why evidence‑based advocacy matters and why staying connected to your Chamber amplifies your voice beyond the local level.
The feedback also reinforced the pressure many businesses are under right now, and the need for practical, timely support. That’s why we encourage members to stay in close contact with us and let us know what you need as conditions evolve. Your insights shape our priorities, our advocacy, and the services we deliver.
Through SBDC funding, we continue to offer free business advice and workshops, and we are more than willing to pivot planned sessions to meet emerging needs. If there’s a topic, challenge, or skillset your business needs support with, please tell us. This program exists to respond to real‑world conditions facing our local business community. Here’s to continued collaboration, strong advocacy, and ensuring Esperance businesses are supported, heard, and equipped to navigate change together.
