This program is to support the enhancement of Indigenous wellbeing and community safety through the provision of services that will work in accordance with crime prevention, violence reduction, reduced substance misuse and harm strategies amongst Aboriginal communities. A Few Specifics Provide a high quality screening, assessment, planning, education and referral service for Aboriginal children, their families and communities in accordance with the Safety and Wellbeing Programme as prescribed by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. Be able to respond appropriately to a client in crisis. Arrange referrals to agencies and services for clients who would be better served by such agencies and services. Facilitate groups as required particularly where the groups are going to contribute to crime prevention, violence reduction, and reduced substance misuse and harm amongst aboriginal communities. Groups including family camps need to be culturally sensitive to their needs and learning styles. Prepare and collate program reports as directed by the Program Manager. Perform special duties as directed by the Program Manager, e.g. assist with community development and liaison, represent agency on public committees, give presentations to community groups etc.
Selection Criteria Qualifications in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing or Aboriginal Health Work Experience and knowledge working with Aboriginal individuals, families and communities Experience in administration and case management Experience living and working in a remote / regional community Exhibit a Client-centred, conscientious care approach Excellent Attention to detail and organisational skills Ability to work within a multiagency, multidisciplinary team Excellent communication skills Positive outlook At least 1-5 years post graduate experience Benefits Work for a leading NFP with 375 staff across 11 locations providing a great work life balance.
